Essential Protection for a Safe Laboratory Environment

When working in a laboratory environment, the safety of the operator and the surroundings is the top priority. Class I Biosafety Cabinets are specifically designed to protect users and the laboratory environment from aerosols and splashes during work with low- and moderate-risk biological agents.

These cabinets protect the operator through inward airflow, while ensuring environmental safety by passing exhaust air through a HEPA filter. They are an ideal solution for applications where sample sterility (product protection) is not required, but personnel safety is critical.

Why Should You Choose a Class I Biosafety Cabinet?

Class I biosafety cabinets are similar to fume hoods in terms of airflow dynamics, but are equipped with HEPA filtration to provide biological protection. They are the right choice for your facility in the following situations.

Personnel and environmental protection keeps operators away from potential biological hazards. They allow centrifuges, mixers, or small laboratory devices requiring ventilation to be safely used inside the cabinet.

For applications where product protection (a sterile environment) is not mandatory, they offer an economical and practical safety solution.

Technical Features and Operating Principle

Class I biosafety cabinets are manufactured in compliance with international standards and are equipped with advanced technical features to ensure a safe working environment.

Negative pressure system keeps the working area continuously under negative pressure to prevent contaminated air from escaping into the laboratory environment.

Exhaust air is passed through HEPA filters with an efficiency of 99.999%, rendering it harmless to the environment.

Ergonomic design, featuring an angled front glass and optimal working height, supports operator comfort during prolonged use.

Important Note

Class I Biosafety Cabinets deliver air from the external environment into the work area without filtering it. Therefore, they do not provide product or sample protection. For applications requiring protection of both personnel and samples, Class II Biosafety Cabinets should be selected.

Areas of Use

Class I biosafety cabinets are widely used in low- and moderate-risk microbiology laboratories, as well as in educational and research laboratories.
They also offer ideal solutions for the processing of biological waste and for the safe containment of laboratory equipment that poses a risk of aerosol generation.
