Animal Care Systems Optimice Mouse Cage System

Optimice is based on the patented direct-exhaust ventilation technology used in the original M.I.C.E. system. Optimice applies a density-to-value equation to achieve the highest cage density in the industry. It can be placed against a wall or next to another rack. Simply rotate the carousel to bring the cages to you. Because Optimice has no motor, noise, or vibration, it creates a low-stress, stable, non-variable environment—ideal for housing and breeding research mice. Animals are fully protected inside Optimice cages. The system helps optimize space and improve quality of life for animals and caretakers by eliminating odors and allergens and providing the best possible environment.

Animal Care Systems Optirat GenII Rat Cage System

Optirat GenII cages are large enough to comfortably house rats and other species, thanks to their wide front opening, while also providing superior visibility. Each Optirat GenII rack contains a total of 42 cages arranged across seven levels, with six cages per level. Each cage is equipped with two 400 mL water bottles and a 1.1-liter (1.2-liter) stainless steel feeder.

Animal Care Systems Ergomice offers a compact and ergonomic system that includes all the features and advantages of the Optimice system. Ergomice is a lightweight and cost-effective alternative to the Optimice cage and is available in configurations with capacities of 50, 70, or 80 cages. The 70-cage model eliminates the bottom three levels to minimize the need for bending during access, while the 80-cage model is built at a greater height to accommodate shorter personnel. The 50-cage model combines both of these ergonomic features. Ergomice racks use standard Optimice cages and accessories, available in polycarbonate or two types of polysulfone plastics. While the 80-cage configuration offers the same watering options as Optimice, the 50- and 70-cage models are not compatible with automatic watering systems; bottle-based and other individual cage watering options are available.

Optirat Plus provides multi-level housing for rats and other large rodents. It combines proven, motor-free direct exhaust ventilation technology with a high-density carousel design, offering enhanced ease of use and simplified maintenance. The feeder is positioned near the rear of the cage to improve animal visibility, while the water bottles are mounted externally, allowing replacement without opening the cages. Each rack contains a total of 30 cages arranged across six levels, with five cages per level. Each cage is equipped with a 1.1-liter feeder and either two 500 mL water bottles or an optional water bag adapter. Automatic watering is also available as an option.

Animal Care Systems SMART System Heated Cage Systems

The SMART System provides heated comfort beneath a portion of the cage floor through 10 cage stations. The thermoneutral zone for mice ranges from 26 to 34 °C; however, typical housing rooms are maintained between 21 and 26 °C. Cold-stressed mice develop dramatic changes in physiology, behavior, and immune function, which can distort experimental results. Healthy mice may cope by using nesting material, but many mice require additional thermal support.
